Where did these shows go wrong? Lack Of Love In The Afternoon The show aired its series finale in August of 2008.
Passions would not last its first decade and was canceled by NBC in 2007 and it moved to DirectTV for just one year. While Beach tried to be a hipper version of Another World, Passions was more of a teen version of Days of our Lives. The niches each show tried to fill were also very different. Some will argue Passions replaced Sunset Beach and they have a point but the feels of the shows were different.
This time there was no replacement for it. However, just a few months later the Beach would close for business. The replacement was Sunset Beach, the first daytime drama produced by Aaron Spelling. First to end was Another World in 1999, luckily there was a replacement for the show. Back then shows would cater to certain demographics and tried to carve out their own niche. There were 14 soaps on air in the mid-90s. “I can’t miss my stories!” It was a common refrain from mothers and other ladies as they hurriedly finished their errands to get home to the TV.
